Pakistan Will Apply For Anti-Dumping Investigations On Polyester Fibers Produced In China.

The Pakistan Customs Committee has received applications from relevant industries in Pakistan and requested anti-dumping investigations on imports of polyester fibers from China. It will decide whether to file and initiate investigation procedures within 45 days.

According to the Ministry of commerce website reported on July 28th, the Pakistan Customs Committee has received applications from Pakistan's relevant industries, requiring anti-dumping investigations on imports of polyester fibers from China (PolyesterStapleFibre, Pakistan customs tariff No. 55032010).

According to the relevant provisions of the anti-dumping law of the Pakistan, the committee will examine the authenticity and validity of the application materials, and decide whether to file the case and initiate the investigation procedure within 45 days.

According to Chinese customs statistics, in 2007, China exported to Pakistan about 60 million US dollars, accounting for 15% of China's total exports to the world.

This is the first anti-dumping case filed by Pakistan's domestic industry since 07 years ago.

So far, Pakistan has put forward safeguard measures or anti-dumping investigations on China's five products, namely footwear, calcium carbide, pre heat sensitive aluminum, formaldehyde resin and tile.

The first three products have not entered the legal process, and formaldehyde resin and tile have been dumped by the final ruling. They have been levying anti-dumping duty for 5 years since July 18, 2005 and November 30, 2006 respectively.
