India Levying Anti-Dumping Duty On All Kinds Of PFY

The India central Taxation Bureau and the customs and Excise Department and the Ministry of Finance issued a circular. The government of India has imposed anti-dumping duties on all tensile or all directional yarn / rotary spinning / plain polyester yarns (non deformation and non -POY). The import tariff code of China, Thailand and Vietnam products is 54024700, and the anti-dumping duty rate is between 112 dollars and 527 cents per ton, which came into effect in September 25, 2009.

Obviously, this is to protect the interests of polyester producers in India. They have been complaining that the prices of imported products from China, Thailand and Vietnam are lower than those of the local market in India.

Earlier, the General Administration of anti-dumping and joint duties has launched an anti-dumping investigation, noting that "cheap imports from China, Thailand and Vietnam have an impact on India's industry."

The textile industry in India is the largest consumer of such products in the country. When the government of India proposed to impose anti-dumping duties, the textile industry of the state voted against it.

An expert said that the government has imposed anti-dumping duties on the existing POY imports.

Fully stretched polyester yarn is used to produce higher count yarn.

He added, "now that summer is coming, the demand for light fabric will increase.

If anti-dumping duties are imposed on imported yarns, local yarn manufacturers will raise their prices, which will lead to high cost of yarn and low cost of finished products, which will eventually increase the import of fine fabrics and damage the textile industry of the state of slat.

"

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Commerce of India proposed a temporary anti-dumping duty on linen fabrics imported from China and Hongkong based on preliminary investigations.

The decision was based on the petition submitted by the India linen manufacturer, including Jayshree textile company and other manufacturers in India.
