India Cotton Corp released data on Monday. As of March 14th, the number of cotton arrived in India this year (starting October 1st) decreased by 5.9% to 24 million 480 thousand packages.

Gujarat state is the largest cotton producing country in the West. The number of shipments decreased by 25.7% to 6 million 500 thousand bales, while the number of Maharashtra shipments increased by 12.1% to 6 million 200 thousand packs.

The number of goods arriving in the northern and southern states was 3 million 630 thousand and 5 million 360 thousand, respectively, 11.5% and 14% respectively.

The daily arrival quantity is about 120000 packs, and the weight is 170 kilograms per pound.

In the year that ended in September 2009, cotton production in India could be reduced by 10% to 29 million packages, due to the lack of precipitation in the sowing time.

The Cotton Corp under the state is India's largest cotton purchasing agency. It may buy 10 million bales of cotton in October 2008 and reach a record high between October 2008 and April 2009.

So far, about 8000000 bales of cotton have been bought.
