Tan Dun Returns To "New Tea"
Tan Dun will return to Beijing wherever he goes. His return to China is to guide his own opera rehearsal. As an important event of the 2008 Olympic cultural activities in Beijing, the work will be held at the National Grand Theater in July 30th.
The opera, "tea", traces the love story of a Chinese Princess and a Japanese prince who came to Tang to learn tea ceremony by recounting the origin of tea culture in China 5000 years and the tea Scripture written by tea Saint Lu Yu. Originally written in 1998, tea has been produced in many countries since its premiere in Tokyo, Japan in 2002, including France, New Zealand, Holland, Sweden and so on.
The Chinese version of the opera "tea" will be designed by Oscar, the famous fashion designer, Patra Zia, who has been nominated by the Hollywood for many times. The designer of the Taiwan glazed master, miss Yang Huishan, will design some props.
In his tea, Tan Dun also integrated his unique concept of "organic music". In addition to the traditional orchestras, Tan Dun will also creatively use paper, ceramics, water and other objects with ancient Chinese cultural symbols as percussion instruments. These natural instruments not only add a different auditory experience to tea, but also become a visual enjoyment.
