Flammable Fabrics Act September Came Into Effect

The inspection and quarantine department suggests that the relevant enterprises should familiarity with the decree as soon as possible.

Recently, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission revised the American Flammable Fabrics Act and will take effect in September 22nd this year.

Yiwu inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminded relevant enterprises to attach great importance to the new textiles burning act of the United States.

It is reported that the flammable fabric act includes 6 sub regulations.

In terms of revision, the definition of some confusing terms has been increased, more advanced combustion testing instruments have been introduced, more scientific pre test dry cleaning and cleaning processes have been provided, detailed testing of textile sample preparation, test volume, combustion test process and experimental report has been made. At the same time, more explicit requirements for the calculation of fabric burning time, the ignition and burning of fabric at the bottom have been put forward.

To this end, the AQSIQ requires local inspection and quarantine institutions to conduct sampling tests on the flame retardancy of export garments.

The city's clothing exports to the United States occupy a large proportion, the inspection and Quarantine Bureau recommends that the relevant production enterprises should familiarize themselves with the contents of the new combustion act, adjust the technical parameters of the textiles exported to the United States in time, and do the corresponding product testing work so as to avoid the disruption of textile exports due to the lack of timely technical updates.
